Mercedes-Benz 560 SL Brabus Classic SOLD
1987 Mercedes-Benz 560 SL Automatic, restored by Brabus Classic. Finished in 904 Dark Blue with a beautiful Cognac leather interior. Just two owners and the odometer now reads 5191 since the Brabus Classic restoration. Chassis number is WDBBA48D6HA073513.
This pristine W107 was owned for 26 years by it’s first owner, spending its life in Florida and travelling just 42,302miles in this time with no accident damage recorded according to CARFAX. In 2013 it was acquired by Brabus Classic, the oldtimer division of the legendary Mercedes performance specialists. Here it underwent a true ‘nut and bolt’ restoration at the hands of one of the best in the business.
The process begins with a complete disassembly of the car, with all parts inspected and catalogued. Unserviceable components are discarded and components that are suitable for reconditioning, such as chrome parts, are replated and returned to showroom condition. Next, all paint is removed from the bodyshell, which is then reconditioned by bodywork specialists and given a catalytic dip primer coating. Corrosion protection using cutting-edge technology is also part of the scope of the restoration, before a fresh paint job is applied in the cars original color.
The engine is also completely disassembled, and then rebuilt in a process that includes grinding and honing the cylinders as well as overhauling the cylinder head. Powertrain technicians overhaul the drivetrain including the automatic transmission, driveshaft and differential. The same rigor is applied to suspension and brakes: all components are replaced with new parts.
The final step is the interior and roof. The companies upholstery shop crafts interiors as well as carpeting in any color, perfectly finished to the smallest detail. The product lineup includes materials in precisely the same color as the original that once came off the assembly lines as well as in any imaginable desired color. Carpenters then recondition all cockpit wood inlays and in creating completely new ones from the same type of wood.
Back in 2015 this process took the Brabus team thousands of hours to complete. The price tag on this car was €136,850 (original invoice present), and it included a 3 year / 100,000km warranty demonstrating Brabus Classic’s belief in its workmanship.
This is a rare opportunity to own a showroom condition, 5000km 560 SL at a €60,000 discount from the original purchase price. It has the added benefit of a perfect history at the hands of it’s original Floridian custodian – a low mileage, one owner car to start with, now taken back to how it rolled off the forecourt when it was first sold in 1987.
