This immaculate little Moke has been with the current owner since 2008. It was acquired from Runamoke a specialist in England, having just been fully restored. At the time it was fitted with a brand new engine, confirmed by email correspondence between the current owner and the company, who warned of a need to run this in on taking procession of the vehicle.
The Moke also came with the following additions. Conversion to left had drive and speedometer change to kph, supply and fitment of sidescreens, finished in matching green, along with a suntop, also finished in green. Its authenticity and originality are true to factory form confirmed by a British Motor Industry Heritage Trust certificate, which lists the original specification of the car when it left with on March 6th 1967.
Another iconic piece penned by the hands of Sir Alec Issigonis, the Mini Moke’s hard, utilitarian aesthetic combine with its diminutive stature to create a form both loveable and chic. Often found nowadays in sophisticated settings and ferrying around the bourgeois, this was absolutely not the original plan for this Mini based machine – far from it in fact. Issigonis made a machine for military purposes, and it was believed the car would work perfectly as a parachute dropped utility machine, that is until it’s lack of ground clearance scuppered any possibility of this. After failing to find custom with the armies of nations, the car found its home in sun drenched resorts and tropical island retreats such as Mauritus and the Seychells, where it’s simple, open design made for the perfect mode of transport for getting to the beach and restaurants in these warm, relaxed settings.
This particular Moke is truly a collectors piece, almost too good to hack around the streets of Monoco or St Tropez in – but what a beautiful little thing to be in if you did! A great additional to a collection or a well presented to example to enjoy in the usual chic, European settings.
